I have been playing guitar and performing for most of my life. Performing ‘modern electric blues’, combining new interpretations of familiar songs with my own compositions, as well as “spontaneous compositions” - improvisational work inspired by the moment. Drawing on the finest talent pool of musicians in the country, creating an interplay between instruments and players always makes for an exciting and interesting musical conversation involving blues, funk and jazz elements. All filtered through the New Orleans experience. In addition, I have worked with many other artists on guitar and drums both live and in the studio, including Mercy City, MJ Baby & The Last Word, Melissa On The Rocks, Preacher Keen, Sugarback, Smoky Greenwell, Lips & The Trips,The Mumbles and many more. I am very fortunate and honored to play a Voodoo Custom built right here in New Orleans by Vincent Guidroz of New Orleans Guitar Company. Vincent builds these one at a time with the passion of a great sculptor and the patience of Job. Every detail is considered and executed by hand. The instruments come to life, with a heart and soul all their own. Nothing can replace the feeling of expressive liberation experienced when playing an instrument designed and built by a single artisan by hand. It's a guitar for a lifetime and then some. El D lives and works in New Orleans with his wife Melissa. The couple writes, performs and records as Sweet Jones. They're first cd , Le Grande Soiree, recorded and filmed live in New Orleans at the BMC and released in 2010 as a CD/DVD set, is now available online at www.sweetjonesmusic.com and locally in New Orleans at The Louisiana Music Factory. They are currently recording they're second cd at Listen Up Studio in New Orleans. |
